Description:
The ILA Program provides free legal advice to victims of sexual assault which occurred in the province. The session will include an overview of the program, information about sexual assault in Nova Scotia, and how nurses can support victims of sexual assault. Nurses will be provided with resources from which to ensure victims receive wrap-around support and can make informed decisions about their assault with the support of their nurse of contact. The session will include discussion about nurse’s experiences with disclosures, best practices, and how best to be trauma-informed when working with victims of sexual violence.
