The theme this year is Our Nurses. Our Future. This theme is intended to showcase the many roles that nurses play in a patient’s health-care journey. The pandemic brought to light the courage and commitment that nurses work under every day and showed the important role that nurses play in the community.
The NSNU proposes an addition to the Canadian Nursing Association's theme: Our Time.
It is our time to demand action and initiatives that will lead to meaningful change; actions that will ease workloads, overtime, burnout and the depletion of our nursing workforce. We must make this challenging but rewarding profession a more welcoming and safe place for all nurses.
After enduring endless workplace stressors and challenges, we hope that National Nursing Week highlights the feelings of appreciation and gratitude that so many have for their nurses. As a nursing union, we welcome this opportunity to celebrate NSNU members and all nurses across the province, country and world. We thank you for your unwavering commitment to your patients, clients and residents.

Local NNW Celebrations
National Nursing Week is a time to come together and celebrate! Your Local may choose to mark the occasion by holding a virtual or in-person event, buying a cake or lunch, or donating to a food bank or shelter charity, as some have done in the past.
However you choose to celebrate, please tag us in your photos, or email them to nsnu.office [at] nsnu.ca (nsnu[dot]office[at]nsnu[dot]ca). We will share your photos and stories on social media and in our newsletter.
